I call foul on Fowler.

So what else is new…professional golf is a business.  Second, it’s entertainment.  Third…well, there is no third.  Not with Rickie Fowler on the Ryder Cup Team.  Suddenly, it’s all about looks, confidence, bravura, and not proven gameplay, winning, and substance.

Does any professional golfer truly respect mere potential?  Regardless of how the roll of the dice with Fowler transpires, we will never know how well another golfer who actually deserved a playing spot on the world’s best USA team would have changed events and affecrted the integrity and honor of being chosen for the most exclusive team the world has to offer every two years.  In fact, if Fowler does well, be prepared for years to come of showcase players replacing grinding winners.

I’m sorry, I don’t get the Fowler pick.  It’s emotional and posturing and greedy and diminishes the event, IMHO.
