WARWICKSHIRE, England — The 75-year-old British Par 3 Championship returns to Nailcote Hall and its 9-hole Cromwell course in Warwickshire, England, August 4-7, 2009. With headline sponsor Farmfoods and the legendary Tony Jacklin as host, the event promises to be the best Championship yet.

The British Par 3 Championship is a unique golfing experience providing amateurs with the chance to play alongside European Tour professionals and a host of celebrities, and this year the celebrity guest list is set to be even more impressive.

The 2009 Championship celebrates the 40th year of legendary Tony Jacklin’s landmark 1969 win of The Open. Jacklin, who will be hosting the event for the second year, is delighted to return following last year’s resounding success.

“This event has been going on for 75 years, which proves it works, and everyone has a great time,” he said. “I’m looking forward to coming back and playing again.”

Tony Jacklin CBE received The Professional Golfer’s Association Recognition Award at the end of 2008 to credit his successful career and many outstanding achievements. Jacklin, who was Great Britain’s first golfing superstar, has many triumphs up his sleeve that prove he is more than worthy of this award, including leading the first European team to Ryder Cup victory for 28 years in 1985 and his legendary feat of winning The Open in 1969. This Open Championship win made history and helped to restore confidence where it was lacking in Britain during the 1960s.
